Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three of the four Grand Slam events this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments of the year because of a health issue she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health before starting plans for the 2026 season.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the final set in the match with Zhu because of the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled late this year.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
