Line of Duty Confirmed for 7th Season on BBC
The beloved police drama AC-12 will make a comeback for its 7th installment, confirmed by the BBC.
An upcoming six-part season created by the show's creator will begin filming in Belfast this spring, according to the production team.
The actress expressed excitement about the return, stating she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Adrian Dunbar remarked, "How wonderful it is to know that the main trio will be reuniting together next year."
The last season concluded in recent years with a finale that attracted over 17 million audience members. Rumors about a new season have been widespread for some time, but confirmation only arrived recently.
Fresh Obstacles for The Team
The seventh season begins with the anti-corruption unit no longer existing and rebranded as the new police oversight body, as revealed by the announcement.
Martin Compston's character, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain working to tackle misconduct within the law enforcement.
Their work "has never been more difficult", and under these circumstances, the trio are assigned their "most sensitive case so far."
Fresh Face and Intricate Plot
An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, described as a charismatic officer known for busts of organized crime, faces allegations of misusing his authority to act as a sexual predator.
Yet, his case could be a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows, the teaser hinted.
In a statement, Jed Mercurio said: "Everyone involved are deeply thankful to the dedicated viewers."
"It's an honor to have had countless followers watch the ups and downs of AC-12 over six previous seasons and we are thrilled to be returning for a seventh installment."
He added: "Corruption in the UK is supposed to have ended while the series was not airing, so I've been compelled to use my imagination."
Actor Responses
Martin Compston described being part of the police drama as "the role of a career".
"Beyond the program's popularity but the colleagues I've worked with I now call some of my closest friends."
"I'm excited to pull the waistcoat on again and reunite with everyone," he added.
Vicky McClure stated: "It goes without saying I'm very happy Line of Duty is returning! Can't wait to work with the creator, Martin and Dunbar again. Belfast, we'll be there shortly!"
The veteran actor noted: "As we count down the unit return, how exciting it is to know that the Three Amigos will be working together soon."
"Pleased with the announcement and looking forward to those unexpected twists and turns."
