Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
