History of Targeted Attacks
Since the onset of the large-scale conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military commanders have been targeted within Moscow.
This latest event follows other high-profile incidents, including:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov perished in late 2024 when a explosive placed on a scooter was triggered from afar.
While a source from Ukraine previously attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are not formally acknowledged as a matter of policy.
The war has increasingly seen covert operations extending into the center of the Russian capital.
The investigation into General Sarvarov's death is still ongoing.
